Stroke Play (Lowest Net & Lowest Gross)

This is a stroke play pseudo-handicap competition; it provides golfers of all abilities to compete and to test themselves. As it’s a single day competition, its objective is to simulates a final day (final Sunday) feel where everybody is tied in the field play.
This competition is the oldest of our entire tournaments, and it’s the most difficult to win. You have a year to prepare and only 1 chance to win. In the 25-year history of this tournament, only 2 players have been repeated winners.

This stroke play competition is designed for golfers to exceed their best golf in order to win. It does so by giving the players the best chance to win. This tournament provides the right amount of pressure as everybody is tied at the first tee.

Handicaps are used to separate the players into 4 different groups, Scratch, Low, Mid and High handicappers. Each group will play from a different tee box.

Tee boxes are assigned as follows:
-/+ 0 to 5.9 HDCP - Scratch – Champion tees
-6.0 to 10.9 HDCP - LOW – Blue tees
-11.0 to 15.9 HDCP - MID – White tees
-16.0 and above HDCP – Men Red tees

This is a team competition contested over 27 holes Ryder cup style, competing using 3 different playing formats; with the objective of accumulating the most points.
There are 9 holes of Alternate Shot (Foursomes), 9 holes of Individual Match Play and 9 holes of Individual Stroke Play, all for points.
The 2 teams were created with the intention to allow the STUDS get to choose the best available player and HACKERS will choose the 2nd best available. The deliberate historically context is to create a team where all the better players were selected STUDS (BEST) and the HACKERS would get what’s left (REST).
Sticking to the tradition of the STUDS getting the better players, the Studs are perennially awarded the first pick from all new pool of players.
During the ensuing years, as players join with similar abilities the teams have become a lot more balance.
There is a healthy rivalry amongst these teams and  great pride is taken in winning this tournament.
In the 10 years history of playing the Founders Cup the “Hackers” have beaten the “Studs” 4 times, with the “Studs” winning the last 3 years in a row.

The team that loses the last contested Cup are designated “The Challenger” and is responsible for setting the next round of matches.
